Ladies’ Footwear for Autumn

With the weather starting to turn a little bit nippy now is the time to invest in some cosy and warm ladies boots and shoes.

Usually it can be a bit of a trade-off between fashion and practicality, but this season the catwalks have obliged with the resurgence of cosy looking shoes and boots.

Shearling was a key trend on the Autumn/Winter catwalks and was seen everywhere from Kenzo to Burberry and Kurt Geiger.

According to Grazia "shearling is having a major fashion moment. From deluxe knee-highs to edgy ankle boots, a fur trim is the coolest way to wrap up this season."

And it's not just Grazia that is bigging-up the trend. Fashion blog Myfashionlife has also been selling the benefits of the shearling boots. Editor Emily O’Brien writes: "All hail the shearling boot. We already know how important jacket trims in this fluffy fabric are, but let’s not neglect the new shoe revolution that’s under way, too."

While NOW magazine’s Fashion Director, Karen Buglass, has told Shunews that "boots are big news [this autumn/winter]. Pick from sheepskin yeti styles, buckled military knee highs or my favourite, the wedge heeled boot."

And the fashion forward amongst us can even combine more than one trend by going for a heeled hiking boot, which is huge this season.

And as Stephanie Holding writing in the Mail reckons "Why would you want a pair of real hiking boots when you can totter around in a pair of heeled ones?

"This is fashion and fashion favours the absurd... and what's more bizarre than heeled hiking boots?

But then again, they are quite fabulous."

And for the more adventurous amongst us you can take the fake fur trend one step further by channelling Chanel's Yeti trend. Karl Lagerfeld sent his models down the catwalk in head to toe fake fur which is probably a little extreme but as the Mail's Stephanie Holden reminds us "you really don't need to leave your house looking like a throwback from the Ice Ages.

"Instead, add a touch of faux fur to your repertoire; whether it’s a coat, a gilet, a pair of fur-covered boots or a bag, you will soon find that looking cool this season will keep you surprisingly warm."
